Abstract

1462848 Swash-plate mechanism PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN NV 1 Aug 1975 [6 Aug 1974] 32240/75 Heading F2K In a variable-stroke swash-plate mechanism, for reciprocating pumps, compressors and engines &c., having a fixed cylinder housing block 5 the pistons (not shown) of which are connected to drive rods 30 which via heads 31 engage via slidable part-spherical slippers 35, 36 a rotary swash-plate 7 of adjustable tilt angle, the swash-plate is mounted on a shaft 1, for rotation therewith and is tiltably adjusted thereon, for piston stroke adjustment, by a pair of hydraulically operated pistons 17, 22 which are moved jointly away or toward each other by hydraulic pressure supplied to spaces 19, 24 via a common duct 27 in shaft 1. The piston drive rod heads 31 each straddle the swash-plate 7 and carry the part-spherical slippers 35, 36 in corresponding part-spherical facing recesses 32, 33 in each head 31, the slippers 35, 36 having slightly convex surfaces which are in sliding contact with the two opposed faces of the swash-plate 7. As shown, the swash-plate tilt adjusting pistons 17, 22 are connected to the swash-plate 7, for tilt adjustment thereof, by extensions 16, 21 on the pistons 17, 22 which are connected to pins 11, 12 arranged transversely in the swash-plate 7, hydraulic operation of the pistons 17, 22 serving to move the pins 11, 12 in opposite directions to adjustably tilt the swash-plate 7 about its connecting points 9, 10 on a block 6 rigidly fast in the shaft 1.
