Abstract

1462767 Invalid cars W M C TOWNS 30 Oct 1974 [11 Aug 1973 15 Dec 1973] 38136/73 and 58216/73 Heading B7B The car has its sole entrance at the rear and has a ramp 19 which can be lowered to the ground 23 or to a kerb 24 in order to give easy access for an invalid whether or not he is using a wheel chair. When stowed, the ramp 19 closes the lower part of the entrance whose upper part is closed by a door 13. Side windows 17 can be opened and are large enough to allow emergency exit through them. The car may have, as shown in Fig. 1, a central driving position for use by the occupant of a wheelchair 25. Guides (27), Fig. 2 (not shown) are provided to locate the chair wheels and clamps are provided at 28 for holding the wheel-chair in position. Inwardly facing rear seats are provided. The alternative arrangement of Fig. 4 has front seats 33 and 36 for invalids who do not require wheelchairs. Inwardly facing rear seats 31 are again present. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the seat 36 is omitted to leave space for storing a folded wheelchair.
