Abstract

1462747 Valves GROVE VALVE & REGULATOR CO 6 March 1975 [24 May 1974] 9427/75 Heading F2V A pressure relief valve 14 of the type described in British Patent Specification 1,041,358 in which a flexible tubular closure member 34 is biased to the closed position by fluid pressure is provided in the line 48 with two regulating valves in parallel which act to stop minor pressure surges in the main pipe line from actuating the relief valve. In the first embodiment (Fig. 2) the first valve 52 comprises a pivoted flap 58 biased open by a spring 66 and provided with a variable stop 72 which is carried by a rod 74 of the second valve 54 which is also biased open by a spring but closed by main line pressure acting on a piston 78. In a second embodiment the flap valve is replaced by a gate valve actuated by a piston and cylinder arrangement supplied with gas controlled by an electromagnetic pilot valve. In a final embodiment, the gate valve is retained but the valve 54 is replaced by a manually actuated valve.
