Abstract
1462722 Removing NO x and SO 2 from gases EBARA MFG CO Ltd 10 Jan 1974 [22 Sept 1973] 33051/76 Divided out of 1462721 Heading C1A NO x and SO 2 are removed from effluent gases by subjecting the effluent gas to a total dose x of ionizing radiation or ultra-violet light of 1-10 Mrad. satisfying the equation x=y/160 where y is NO x content in ppm. to convert NO x and part of SO 2 to mist and/or solid reaction products, separating the reaction products in a collector while maintaining gas temperature below decomposition point thereof and removing SO 2 from the gas emanating from the collector by conventional means. The irradiation is preferably performed with an electron beam accelerator at a dose rate of 10<SP>5</SP> rad./sec. or higher.
