Abstract

1462321 Recording apparatus CALIFORNIA COMPUTER PRODUCTS Inc 16 April 1975 [26 July 1974] 15709/75 Heading G1J An X-Y plotter comprises an endless carrier belt 307 mounted round a drum 308 and an idler roller 309, drive means 401 to rotate the drum 308, a carriage 311 movable by drive means 414/ 314 along a fixed beam 313 parallel to the axis of the drum 308, and, mounted on the carriage 311, at least one stylus 312 to mark traces on a sheet 310 of record material mounted on the carrier belt 307. The carrier belt 307 is of polyester film 0À003-0À004 inch thick and has sprocket holes (408) Fig. 4e (not shown) along the edges to engage sprocket pins (409) Fig. 4c (not shown) on the drum 308. The roller 309 is carried in adjustable bearings for adjustment of carrier belt 307 tension and tracking. The drive means 401 and 414 are D.C. servomotors controlled in response to input data to move the drum 308 and carriage 311 to position the stylus 312 relative to the record medium 310. The stylus 312 is a 3-pen assembly the pens of which are selectively lowered into contact with the record medium 310 in response to control signals. The motor 414 is connected to the carriage 311 via reduction gears (417, 418) and a belt 314 passing round pulleys (416) (423) mounted in the beam 313 Figs. 4b, 4d (not shown).
