Abstract

1461981 Mechanical switches AMANA REFRIGERATION Inc 4 Nov 1974 [13 Dec 1973] 47639/74 Heading H1N [Also in Division H5] A microwave oven has a door-operated safety switch 78 operated by a lever 44 pivoted to the door and guided for sliding and rotational movement by a bushing 54 pivoted to the door frame 16. Lever 44 has a turned down end 46 to prevent door 18 opening too wide. Bushing 54 is made of two interengaging nylon parts (56, 58, Figs. 3, 4, not shown). As the door closes, lever 44 first slides in bushing 44 in a direction 106, Fig. 5, secondly when the door is almost shut the end of lever 44 follows an arc 108 to engage switch operating spring 80, since the distances of arm pivot 50 and bushing pivot 76 from the door hinge are different. A choke seal is present around the door but is not described.
