Abstract

1461559 Cathode-ray tube displays YOKOGAWA ELECTRIC WORKS Ltd 6 May 1975 18921/75 Heading H4T In a cathode-ray tube graphic display system a pattern generator (e.g. alphanumeric characters, symbols etc) including a random access memory stores computer supplies video data at specified addresses which addresses are also stored in a refresh memory. To produce a display the data in the refresh memory is read out in sequence and addresses the pattern generator memory of the corresponding addresses to derive the appertaining video data which is then employed to produce the required patterns in dot-matrix form on a line scanned raster. With the arrangement the pattern generator needs to store data only for those characters actually being displayed and thereby requires only a comparatively small storage capacity. The "reading" and "uniting" functions operate on a time sharing multiplexing basis. An embodiment is described with reference to a block circuit diagram (Figs. 1a and 1b) and a timing waveform diagram set (Fig. 2) none shown.
