Abstract

1461315 Travelling grates POLYSIUS AG 13 Sept 1974 [10 Oct 1973] 39963/74 Heading F4B An air permeable travelling grate 1 for cooling fired or sintered material comprises grate plates 2, 3, 4 etc driven by chain links 5 through driving bolts 6. Grate plates have a driven holder 7 and guides 8 which embrace succeeding bolts 6 and are movable relative to the chain to the extent that the holder 7 is larger than the driving bolt 6. Chain drums 10, 10<SP>1</SP>, driven from the chain links 5 by means of driving drums (not shown), have teeth 12, 12<SP>1</SP>, suitably dimensioned to impart to the grate plates extra movements superimposed on the continuous conveyer movement. This movement of the grate plates relative to each other loosens and makes uniform the material being carried and ensures optimum cooling effect from air passing through the grate band.
