Abstract
1461309 Burners BICKLEY FURNACES Inc 26 Feb 1974 [10 April 1973] 8694/74 Heading F4T A burner assembly mounted in the wall 10<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 5, of a furnace comprises a nozzle 40<SP>1</SP> for supplying fuel, e.g. gas or oil, at high velocity into a combustion chamber 28<SP>1</SP> from which the combustion gases are discharged a substantial distance into the furnace chamber 12<SP>1</SP>. The combustion gases pass through an axial passage 52<SP>1</SP> of a recirculator 50<SP>1</SP> and create a suction in chamber 53<SP>1</SP>, whereby gases from the furnace chamber 12 are drawn into the chamber 53<SP>1</SP> via recirculation passages (54), Fig. 4 (not shown), and are combined with the combustion gas stream flowing through passage 52<SP>1</SP> to increase the mass velocity thereof. Pressurized air supplied from a source 76 via control means 77, may be introduced into the stream in the form of jets through conduits 70 to reduce the temperature of the gases and increase the mass velocity thereof. The air jets enhance the suction effect at chamber 53<SP>1</SP>. The air conduits 70 may be omitted.
