Abstract

1461166 Antiskid braking systems ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 15 Feb 1974 [16 Feb 1973] 6928/74 Heading F2F In an antiskid control system for hydraulically operated vehicle brakes the rear brakes are controlled by a single independent control system incorporating acceleration threshold valve switches and the front brakes are controlled in dependence on the difference between front wheel speeds and the speeds of the rear wheels by two dependent control systems each incorporating at least one speed threshold valve switch and the independent control system has a speed circuit comprising a vehicle speed simulator circuit and an acceleration circuit sequentially connected thereto, the acceleration circuit including a speed threshold valve switch to one input of which a voltage proportional to the circumferential speed of the rear wheels is arranged to be fed and to the other input of which an output of the vehicle speed simulator circuit is connected. Pulsed wheel speed transducers 24, 25, 26, 27 supply pulses to speed circuit 41 and dependent control systems 43, 44 which activate valve arrangements 34, 35. An independent control system 40 comprises a speed circuit 41 and an acceleration circuit 42 whose output actuates a valve arrangement 36. The system is supplied with pressure medium by way of a control valve 31 which produces a braking pressure in line 33 proportional to the displacement of a brake pedal 32. Known safety circuits monitor for example the "on time of the solenoid valves." Fig. 2a shows an arrangement which enables the brake pressure to be increased, decreased or maintained constant and includes an inlet valve 47 and an outlet valve 48. The system provides for a high brake pressure to be built up on an adhesive road surface and then slowly reduced as an acceleration threshold valve switch responds. However on a smooth surface a low pressure is set although the pressure in line 37 is high.
