146,049. Ritter, L. R. Dec. 30, 1919. Tools.-A cutting-tool for lathes, planing-machines &c. comprises a helical strip 2 of highspeed or other steel, of any desired cross-section to produce the required cutting-edge, wound on a mandrel 1 of ordinary steel or other material, and secured thereto by brazing or other means. The mandrel may have a helical groove to receive the strip, and may be hollow for a part or the whole of its length, to minimize the amount of metal to be removed from the corner 7 when sharpening the tool.
