1460188 Hydraulic actuators HYDRAUL - VERKEN AB 23 July 1974 [31 July 1973] 32484/74 Heading FID A device for lifting and moving an object, e.g. a litter 8 on which a patient is laid, between the positions 11 and 10, Fig. 1, comprises an hydraulic cylinder 3 in which a piston 12 is guided, Fig. 2, a piston-rod 5 being rotatably journalled at its lower end in the piston 12 and extending upwards through an extension neck 4 on the cylinder 3 and having an arm 6 rigidly connected to its upper end, the object support means 7 being mounted on the arm 6. During vertical movement of the piston-rod 5 and piston 12 a vertical groove 32 in the pistonrod 5 receives a boss 33 which is mounted on the inner wall of the cylinder 3 to provide guidance for the piston-rod 5, there being two such grooves 32 in the rod 5 and diametrically opposed, and a further groove 31 which extends around the periphery of the rod 5 co-operates with the boss 33 during rotation of the rod 5 about its axis relative to the piston 12, this latter rotation of rod 5 resulting in the movement of the support means 7 from positions 10 to 11 and vice versa. The pistonrod 5 is non-axially movable relative to the piston 12 as the rod 5 engages in a guide sleeve 14 of the piston 12 and is maintained therein by a securing clip 19. In a modification, the further groove (31') extends only partially around the rod (5), Fig. 6 (not shown). Alignment of the boss 33 with either of the vertical grooves 32 is effected by the engagement of abutment surfaces (37) on the pistonrod (5) with stop surfaces (36) on the cylinder, Fig. 3 (not shown).
