Abstract

1460088 Injection moulding BEKUM MASCHINENFABRIKEN GmbH 30 Oct 1974 [30 Oct 1973] 47009/74 Heading B5A In apparatus for moulding hollow bodies from thermoplastic material comprising a plurality of injection nozzles 2 for delivering moulding material from a supply 1 to a plurality of mould cavities 4, each injection nozzle comprises two telescoped hollow portions 8, 9 whereby the axial length of the nozzle is variable in dependence upon variations in the spacing between the supply 1 and the inlets 7 of the respective mould cavities. The pressure of the injected material ensures good contact between the nozzle and mould. A screw 11 extending into a groove 13 limits the movement of the nozzle portion 9. Fig. 2 (not shown) shows a modified nozzle in which the movable nozzle portion (21) slides within the fixed portion (20). In Fig. 3 (not shown) the movable nozzle portion 31 is biased towards the mould by a spring (32). The invention is applied to the injection moulding of parisons 19 which are then blow-moulded.
