Abstract
1459890 Printing blocks L KECK 10 Dec 1974 53376/74 Heading B6C A printing block having a printing surface carrying granules 2 embedded therein with part of the granules being exposed is made by applying a design to a sheet e.g. of plastics, and, while the design is wet, or, if dried, after the design is rendered pasty or doughy, granular material 2 having granules of different sizes, is applied. The material 2 may be glass or cement. The coated design, preferably after drying, is coated with material 3 e.g. epoxy resin, polyester resin, which may be reinforced with glass fibres, and the sheet removed. The design material is washed off to leave the printing block. The block may be used as an intaglio plate, the recesses being inked, as a relief plate, the areas such as 6 being inked, or as a combination, where all the block is inked, perhaps with different inks for the areas 6 and the recesses.
