Abstract

1459320 Isotachophoretic separation LKB-PRODUKTER AB 11 Jan 1974 [15 Jan 1973] 01513/74 Heading C7B In a method of isotachophoretic separation of anions C 1 , C 2 , C 3 in a sample S between leading the terminating anions A and B in respective electrolytes L and T, to detect spectrophotometrically within a wavelength range, preferably within the UV range, the zone boundaries obtained, the counter-ions R utilized within the sample are absorptive to radiation in the wavelength range and are dispersed in the sample with a local concentration depending on the pH value in the sample in the locality. After separation, the absorptivity of a zone within the sample to radiation in the wavelength range depends on the pH value of the zone. In an example in which the leading electrolyte is 0À01 MCl-, the terminating electrolyte is capronate, and the sample ions to be separated are chlorate, oxalate, tartrate, citrate and acetate, the counterion is creatinine instead of #-alanine. In another example in which the leading and terminating electrolytes are respectively (CH 3 ) 4 NCl and Zn acetate in methanol, the counter-ion is sulphanilic acid.
