1458437 Alarm systems NIPPONDENSO CO Ltd and TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO KK 11 April 1974 16293/74 Heading G4H A central warning apparatus for a vehicle comprises a plurality of sensors associated with respective portions of the vehicle to be monitored and connected via discriminators to respective display means, the discriminators also feeding main warning means via an OR gate, there being a checking circuit for causing the display means to produce abnormality indications even when the sensors are producing normal outputs. Fig. 5 shows on/off sensors (contacts) 1 and analogue sensors (thermistors) 1<SP>1</SP>. An alarm condition which opens any of contacts 1 lights a corresponding alarm lamp 5 by rendering conducting a respective transistor 10 in a discriminator 2. An alarm condition which actuates a thermistor 1<SP>1</SP> sufficiently, lights a corresponding lamp 5 via a respective transistor 20 in a discriminator 2. Buzzers may replace the lamps. Any of the alarm conditions will actuate the flasher unit of a main warning lamp via an OR gate 32, 33, 34. A timer 7a actuated by the vehicle ignition switch changes over contacts of a relay 15 for a period to light all the lamps to permit the vehicle driver to check that all are functioning, the lamps 5 being lit via the circuitry of the discriminators 2 so these are checked also. The sensors may be divided into two groups (urgent and not urgent) with respective OR gates and respective main warning lamps. Fig. 3 shows a modification for one on/off sensor 1 and the associated circuitry, the checking unit 7 being actuated by a manual switch.
