Abstract
1458201 A resilient retainer UNITED CARR LTD 29 Oct 1974 [31 Oct 1973] 50589/73 Heading E2B A resilient retainer 10, Figs. 1 and 2, comprises an elongate arm 19, a tag 20 for attaching the retainer to a support 11, Figs. 3 and 4, so that the retainer is pivotable about the attachment position, and a lug 21 which is bent approximately at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the arm 19 and having a neck 22 of reduced width which forms shoulders 23, 24 for example, the latter being bent out of alignment with the longitudinal axis of the neck 22. The retainer 10 is provided with a 'U'-shaped loop 19a, the tag 20 is received in a slot 17 in a flange 15 of the support 11 and the lug 21 is then forced into a slot 18 in a flange 16 of the support, the lug being twisted by engagement with the sides of the slot 18 until the shoulders 23, 24 pass through the slot 18. The lug un-twists and the shoulders are located behind the flange 16. The assembly of the retainer 10 and the support 11 may be used to prevent pipes 32, Fig. 5, accidentally dislodging from a block 26 of synthetic rubber, for example. The latter is held to a panel 30 by a screw 27 which passes through a metal sleeve 28 extending through the block 26, through a hole 28a, Fig. 4, in base 12 of the support 11 and into a screw-threaded hole 29, Fig. 5, in the panel 30. The 'U'-shaped loop 19a facilitates the assembly of the retainer and the support and also serves to provide clearance for the head of the screw 27.
