1458049 Process for aryl-substituted pyridones AFFILIATED MEDICAL RESEARCH Inc 18 Dec 1973 [18 Dec 1972 19 July 1973] 41074/75 Divided out of 1458048 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for making compounds (I) (where A is an optionally substituted aromatic or hereroaromatic group and R3 to R 6 are H, alkyl or optionally substituted aryl) by reacting (II) or (III) with AX (X is halogen), preferably in the presence of an alkali metal carbonate and finely divided copper. Pharmaceutical preparations having uricosuric and analgesic actions contain (I) as active ingredient.
