Abstract
1457921 Wet oxidation of aluminium-containing sludge KANZAKI PAPER MFG CO Ltd 29 March 1974 14057/74 Heading C1C A process for the treatment of water comprises treating the water with a coagulant comprising an aluminium compound; the sludge resulting from said treatment is separated and subjected to wet oxidation after the pH of the sludge has been adjusted so that the pH of the sludge when oxidized is below 1À5 or above 9À0. The oxidized sludge contains aluminium compounds which may be dissolved at the specified pH and re-used as a coagulant. The process may be used for clarifying potable water and/or purifying waste water. The oxidation may be carried out at 175-250‹ C., 14-140 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>.
