Abstract

1457648 Sludge processing VEREINIGTE KESSELWERKE AG 24 Sept 1974 [1 Dec 1973] 41573/74 Heading C1C Sludge may be processed by conditioning at about 200‹ C. and at an elevated pressure, the conditioned sludge being thereafter thickened by settling, at an elevated pressure, before the conditioned sludge has cooled to below 100‹ C. Apparatus suitable for use in the process is described. The thickened sludge may be pressure drained by pressure filtration at an elevated temperature. The supernatant liquor of thickened sludge may be discharged directly from the settling device and subjected to wet burning whilst still hot.
