Respirators.-An absorption chamber forming part of a regenerative breathing apparatus comprises a casing 19 divided into communicating compartments by shelves or baffles 65 of metal or paper. Each compartment is fitted with wire screens 62 formed with rectangular corrugations parallel to the longer axis of the container. Alternate channels are filled with caustic soda, caustic potash, or a mixture thereof, and adjacent screens are inverted, as shown in Fig. 2, so that each chemical - containing channel is completely surrounded by air spaces. Flat wire screens 63 between the corrugated screens 62 serve to hold the chemical in place.
