1456681 Anti-theft alarms F R PEGG 14 Jan 1974 [16 Jan 1973 17 Oct 1973] 2288/73 and 48361/73 Heading G4N An anti-theft alarm comprises a loop conductor 1 in circuit with a transistor or a semiconductor device 2 arranged to operate a switch or a relay 10 controlling an alarm device, e.g. a horn 12 or a visual indicator (not shown) when a break occurs in the conductor 1, the alarm device being maintained in operation for a period determined by a capacitor 11. The loop conductor 1 may be threaded through handles or openings in articles of merchandise. In operation, consequent to a break occurring in the conductor 1, the base of transistor 2 is no longer earthed and transistor 2 conducts to energize an alarm device 12 via the contacts of a relay 10. The alarm device 12 may be disabled before or after actuation by a key-operated switch 4. A manual switch 5 is also provided for testing the system. The alarm produced may be continuous or intermittent. In the alternative embodiment of Fig. 1 (not shown), the relay is included in the emitter circuit and the alarm is powered by a separate battery.
