Abstract

1455974 Gas turbine plant BROWN BOVERI-SULZER TURBO MASCHINEN A G 28 Feb 1975 [9 April 1974] 8604/75 Heading FIT The invention relates to a stationary gas turbine plant and to a method of mounting a rotor bearing and the turbine casing at the exhaust and thereof. The turbine comprises a rotor 4, a stator casing 1 and an inner casing 3 which carries stator blades 6. The casing has secured thereto an exhaust outlet duct 7 of annular form defined by inner and outer walls 9, 8 which are inter-connected by faired section struts 15 some of which are of hollow form. A rotor bearing 12 is located within the space within the annular exhaust outlet duct 7 being supported from the foundation 16 by two struts 14 which extend through two hollow struts 15. The adjacent end of the turbine casing 1 is supported independently by members 17 which extend between the foundation and the horizontal dividing plane 22 of the casing. A tubular member 23, Fig. 3 disposed between the strut 14 and the faired strut 15 defines a first space 24 adjacent the strut 14 through which cooling fluid may flow, and a second space 25 adjacent the faired strut 15 which is filed with heat insulating material 25. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the strut 14 is formed with passages (26) through which cooling fluid may flow, the space between the strut 14 and the faired strut 15 being filled with heat insulating material 25. Cooling fluid may be supplied through line 27 to passages 19 in the casing support members 17, then through line 20 to the passages 18 associated with the bearing support struts 14. The cooling fluid may be lubricating oil, a rotor coolant gland sealing air or atmospheric air.
