Abstract

1455644 Elctrode for gel electro-phoresis LKB-PRODUKTER A B 5 April 1974 [13 April 1973] 15188/74 Heading C7B An electrode arrangement useful in gel electrophoretic separations comprises a plate 1 used as a lid over the gel 11, the plate having at least one pair of parallel spaced-apart rows of teeth or projections 2, 3 along each of which extends an electrode 4 comprising a thread or wire of an inert conductive material e.g. platina. The projections, which may be triangular prisms, are pressed into contact with the gel or a porous buffer-impregnated material, e.g. filter paper 10, lying on the gel. When a plurality of pairs of rows is present, at least one pair may be at right angles to the others Fig. 4, (not shown). The arrangement allows ready release of electrolytically generated H 2 and O 2 while ensuring exact parallelism of the electrodes.
