Abstract

1455516 Earth and rock working &c POCLAIN 22 April 1974 [22 May 1973] 17554/74 Heading E1F A tool such as a drill auger 23a and its hydraulic drive motor 24a or a clam shell bucket is suspended from a support linkage connected to two telescopic parts 8, 11a of a pivoted jib, the linkage being arranged to produce vertical movement of the tool in response to extension and retraction of the part 11a of the jib. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the linkage includes a first lever 19a with two terminal pivots 15a, 21a, connected to the jib head 13a and the tool carrier 22a respectively, and a central pivot 20a connected to the end of a second lever 17a pivoted to the jib part 8 at 18, the effective length of the second lever being half that of the first. In the modification of Fig. 3 the linkage is in the form of a lazy-tongs mechanism.
