Abstract

1454756 Gas scrubber NATIONAL LIME ASSOCIATION 2 Nov 1973 [3 Nov 1972] 51050/73 Heading B1R [Also in Division F2] A gas scrubbing apparatus comprises a conduit or pipeline 15 rotatable about its longitudinal axis and having a gas inlet 17, gas outlet 18, scrubbing liquid inlet 19 and outlet therefore common with outlet 18, wherein within the conduit are a plurality of hooped chains 13 attached to a frame or cage 10 which rotates with conduit 15 so that the chains 10 tumble and agitate the liquid contents in and clean the internal surface of the conduit 15. The scrubbing fluid may be a lime slurry to remove SO 2 from the gas to be scrubbed. The cross bars 11 of the cage 10 may be provided with scoops to disperse the scrubbing liquid and flat bar portions to act as a demister (Fig. 5 not shown).
