Abstract

1453974 Fencing L B (PLASTICS) Ltd 10 Jan 1974 [30 Jan 1973] 4659/73 Heading E1B A fence post comprises a hollow extruded plastics body portion 5 and a longitudinally extending rib or projection 6 extending centrally of at least one side and having a relatively small cross-sectional area relative to the body portion. Planks are secured to the posts by dipping into sockets 10 on double socket members secured to the posts by rivetting or screwing through holes 13 into sidewalls 5A. The posts are embedded in concrete foundations and a cage reinforcement is inserted into the lower end of the body portion and concrete cast therearound to form a reinforcing core. Metal reinforcing members may be provided in the hollow reinforcing ribs. The reinforcing ribs need not be hollow and post need not be of square cross-section.
