Abstract

1452648 Cholera toxoid preparations AMERICAN HOME PRODUCTS CORP 20 Nov 1974 [21 Nov. 1973] 50182/74 Heading A5B A stable cholera toxoid is prepared by reacting cholera toxoid with glutaraldehyde in a compatible aqueous medium at a pH of 6 to 9. The toxoid may be treated with formaldehyde before or simultaneously with the glutaraldehyde reaction. The reaction may be in phosphate buffered saline. The stable toxoid may be absorbed on aluminium phosphate gel in the presence of protamine sulphate, the gel being prepared in situ from aluminium chloride, disodium hydrogen phosphate and potassium dihydrogen phosphate.
