Abstract

1451329 Scraper bowls CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 4 Sept 1973 [5 Sept 1972] 41580/73 Heading E1F [Also in Divisions B7 and F2] An earthmoving scraper bowl 15 is supported on a tractor 13 by a fluid suspension system, Fig. 2, comprising a piston-cylinder unit 44 connected between the scraper bowl and the tractor, an accumulator 45, 46 and a control valve 54, the chamber 44a of the unit being in permanent communication with the accumulator so that the piston is supported at a certain level for normal operation, and the control valve 54 being selectively operable to connect the normally vented rod chamber 44b of the unit to the chamber 44a to lower the piston. To selectively lower the piston a lever 53a in a valve 53 is operated to alter a pilot pressure in a line 55 controlling movement of a valve member (124, Fig. 3 not shown but see Division F2) in the control valve 54, and lines 56 and 57 are placed in communication. Divisional Specification 1451330 has substantially the same disclosure, but claims a hitch assembly with a self-levelling fluid suspension system under the control of an external level regulating lost motion linkage 83, 155,
