1451116 Coating composition VIANOVA KUNSTHARZ AG 20 Dec 1973 [27 Dec 1972] 59195/73 Headings C3B C3F and C3P A coating composition is prepared by contacting, e.g. at 80-140‹ C., (A) 30-90% by wt. of a resin formed by polymerization of one or more olefinically unsaturated monomers, (B) 5-70% by wt. of cellulose acetobutyrate and (C) 2-50% by wt. of an epoxy resin in which R is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic group and n=0-5. (A) may be prepared by polymerizing a mixture containing (by wt.): 50-90% ethyl acrylate, 3-11% of an ether of N-methylolacrylamide or N-methylolmethacrylamide with a C 1-8 monohydric alcohol, 2-10% (meth)acrylic acid, 0-50% methyl methacrylate, 0-45% of an aromatic vinyl monomer, e.g. styrene, 0-45% of an ester of methacrylic acid with a mono- or poly-hydric alcohol. (B) may have a butyral content of 17-53% by wt., an acetyl content of 1À6-29À5% by wt. and a hydroxyl content of 0À7-4À5% by wt. (C) may be a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A.
