Abstract

1450396 Moulding rollers IMAGING TECHNOLOGY Ltd 16 Jan 1974 [17 Jan 1973] 2376/73 Heading B5A [Also in Divisions F2U and G2H] In a pair of rollers mounted in parallel arrangement so as to provide a nip on a web material which may pass between them, at least one roller has an outer surface of a hardness in the range of 10 to 80 Shore, and also has a fine surface finish which is better than 50 micro-inch roughness. In other embodiments, either or both rollers may have a surface finish better than 10 micro-inch or 5 micro-inch, and/ or may have a surface hardness in the range 18 to 40 Shore. The resilient roller surface may be composed of polyurethane with a final hardness, after setting, of 25 Shore. The fine surface finish may be produced by casting a settable resilient compound in a tubular mould having an appropriately smooth polished bore. The roller arrangement may be used in an electrophotographic apparatus, for removing excess liquid from copy sheets after other processing.
