Abstract

1450156 Perforating apparatus ROBERT FLETCHER & SON Ltd 22 Feb 1974 [27 Feb 1973] 9638/73 Heading B4B A perforating roller 14, e.g. for perforating cigarette paper, comprises a wire 12 wound helically thereon and being provided with teeth 13, the distance between the helices being determined by a spacing wire 15. The perforating roller is arranged to cooperate with a plastics-covered backing roller, a paper web being fed between the two rollers. The depth of penetration of the teeth on the roller 14 can be adjusted by weights arranged to act on the ends of the roller. The pattern of perforations produced by the teeth can be varied by grinding away selected teeth or by varying the width of the spacing wire 15.
