Abstract

1449917 Automatic control of I C engines ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 11 Jan 1974 [12 Jan 1973] 01491/74 Heading G3R In a system for controlling the ratio of fuel and air fed to an I.C. engine in response to the exhaust gas composition, the latter is sensed by a probe 1 in the engine exhaust producing a signal which is fed to one arm of a bridge circuit, a second arm of the bridge receives a reference signal, and an operational amplifier 15 has its inverting and non- inverting inputs connected across the diagonal of the bridge and produces a control signal to adjust the fuel: air ratio. As shown the probe output is fed to a transistor 2 connected as an emitterfollower. A transistor 6 receives a reference voltage which is derived from a Zener diode 11 and adjustable by means of resistor 9. The transistors 2, 6 are of opposite conductivity types and are connected to temperature compensate each other. The other arms of the bridge are formed by resistors 13, 14. If the probe output is above or below the reference voltage, the output of the amplifier 15 becomes substantially equal to the potential of the supply lead 3 or 10 respectively. The voltage range of this output is reduced by a circuit using transistors 21, 22 before being fed to an integrating amplifier 29. The time constant of the integrator is adjustable by a switch 27, and the integrator output forms the ratio control signal.
