Abstract

1448921 Engine stop gear VALMET OY 8 May 1974 [11 May 1973] 20215/74 Heading F1K An engine stop gear includes an electric circuit comprising switches in series one of the switches 4 being controlled by a device responsive to engine oil pressure and another one of the switches 5 being controlled by a device responsive to the engine coolant temperature, and the circuit includes a control unit 8 for stopping the supply of fuel to the engine. The control unit 8 comprises a solenoid 13 with an armature which is loaded by a spring 14 and which can be moved by an external force against the spring action into an operative position in which the supply of fuel to the engine is maintained and in which operative position the armature is held against the spring force as long as all the switches remain closed and the solenoid is energized, whereas when the solenoid is deenergized and the external force is absent the spring 14 will move the armature to a released position in which the supply of fuel to the engine is stopped. The illustrated stop gear is for a tractor diesel engine and for a pump, e.g. an irrigation pump driven by the tractor engine. The circuit includes a switch controlled by a stop push button 3, a switch controlled by a device 6 responsive to irrigation pump output pressure and a switch controlled by a clock mechanism 7. If a switch opens, the armature may be actuated to enable the engine to be operated in an emergency.
