Abstract

144,877. Hermann, H. G. June 18, 1919. Bale-tie fasteners. - Bale-ties or the like are fastened by means of tongues 7, 8, 9, 10, Fig. 1, punched or pressed out of the tie, the tongues on each end of the tie being passed through the orifices formed in the other end of the tie by the punching operation. The tongues are then bent down towards the plane of the tie and away from the orifices, as shown in Fig. 2. The tongues may be formed as shown in Fig. 4 by pressing out overlapping or communicating openings, or a single tongue may be formed on each end of the tie.
