Abstract

1448736 Copper alloys: sintered conductors NIPPON TELEGRAPH & TELEPHONE PUBLIC CORP 6 Aug 1973 [8 Aug 1972 1 Sept 1972 (4)] 37179/73 Headings C7A and C7D [Also in Division H1] An electrical conductor comprises copper having 0.01 to 5 wt. per cent of a finely divided powder dispersed therein. The powder may be a carbide of Ti, Mo, Si, Ta, W or Fe; Ni-Cu alloy; a ferrite of Mn + Co, Ba, Ni + Zn, Ni + Cu or Li; MgO, MnO 2 . CrO 2 , V 2 O 3 or Al 2 O 3 ; or a major proportion of an oxide of Mn, Ni, Co or Cu together with a minor proportion of an oxide of Mo, Fe, Zr, Cr and V. In the case of dispersed oxides or carbides, the conductor is made by sintering a compact of copper powder and the powdered oxides or carbide, adding the sintered body to molten, copper, casting, forging, drawing and annealing. Alternatively conductors with dispersed oxides, ferrites or Ni- Cu alloy may be made by sintering a compact of copper powder and the other powder in vacuo, forging the sintered body, forging, drawing and annealing. The compact may be formed by isostatic pressing.
