Abstract

1447486 Floe dispersing on forming wire J W I Ltd 5 Sept 1973 [26 July 1972] 34855/72 Heading D2A Flocs are dispersed within a sheet on a forming wire by moving the wire 23 over at least one elongate agitator blade 1. Each blade is provided with a slot 20, e.g. of T shaped cross-section, which allows slidable attachment to support rails, and at least one channel 6 between support surfaces 4, 5 which may be coplanar. In operation, water is drawn from the stock 10 into channel 6, moving up wall 9 and penetrating wire 23 so as to disperse any flocs. The channel 6 may be (i) as shown, with wall 8 being parallel to surfaces 4, 5 or at an angle thereto and walls 7, 9 being inclined at an angle of 1-8‹, and 1-70‹ respectively with respect to the horizontal, (ii) surface 8 may be omitted or (iii) formed as a continuous curve. Surfaces 4, 5 must be of sufficient size to form an efficient seal between wire B and blade 1. Wear resistant inserts may be provided on at least one of faces 4, 5. The downstream portion of face 5 may be provided with a divergent foiling surface (Figure 5, not shown) thereby adding- the feature of a drainage foil.
