Abstract

1447316 Electro-photographic apparatus XEROX CORP 8 Feb 1974 [12 Feb 1973] 05841/74 Heading G2H A flexible photo-conductive belt 12 is stored in a package under tension prior to installation on a roller assembly 14 of a xerographic copying machine, the package including means for expanding and carrying the belt 12 under tension and means for releasing the tension while the expanding and carrying means is supported on the roller assembly 14. The belt 12 is carried by expanded polystyrene body members 56 tensioned by an expanded polystyrene wedge 55. Legs 42 serve to locate the belt and carrying means assembly 43 within the package and also to mount the assembly 43 on opening 50 formed on the ends of two rollers 18, 20 of the assembly 14 while a third roller 16 is retracted. The wedge 55 and the lower of the two body members 56 and removed from the thus mounted assembly 43, and the belt 12 is slid over the rollers 16, 18, 20 and the roller 16 returned to its unretracted position to tension the now mounted belt 12.
