Abstract
1447255 Valves P OCHS 17 Aug 1973 38975/73 Heading F2V A pressure regulator responsive to inlet or outlet pressure, comprises a diaphragm C having a rubber-coated nylon main layer 34 sandwiched between two p.t.f.e. protective layers 35, 36 but at their periphery X being separated to allow air to be ventilated through via radial notches 39. The valve is suitable for steam at temperatures above 350‹F, the steam permeating the p.t.f.e. layer but being diluted by the circulating air so that the rubber layer is not adversely effected by the high temperature steam. The air may be entrapped (Fig. 4, not shown), or circulated from a source of biasing fluid (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown). The valve seat may be made of p.t.f.e. impregnated with glass or glass fibre impregnated with p.t.f.e. The diaphragm may be formed with a circumferential corrugation with air admitted to it (Fig. 7, not shown).
