Abstract
1446744 Dissolving Mo HITACHI Ltd 26 Nov 1973 54835/73 Heading C7E [Also in Divisions B3 and B6] In the manufacture of coil heaters for electronic tubes or coil filaments for electric lamps or fluorescent tubes, a W wire (which for coil heaters may be coated with Al 2 O 3 ) is wound round a Mo core to make a coil, and the Mo core is then removed by dissolving it in HNO 3 with or without H 2 SO 4 , and in the presence of (NH 4 ) 2 S 2 O 8 , H 2 O 2 and/or KMnO 4 . Preferably where the W wire is alumina coated, (NH 4 ) 2 S 2 O 8 or H 2 O 2 is used rather than KMnO 4 to prevent Mn oxide contamination of the alumina. The 3 additives suppress nitrogen oxide discharge into the atmosphere.
