Abstract

1446324 Selective printing SVENSKA DATAREGISTER AB 1 Nov 1973 [2 Nov 1972] 50860/73 Heading B6F A printer comprises a cylinder 24 bearing printing members in the form of mosaic elements a-h, Fig. 7, and feed means 48, 50, 60 advancing record medium 14 intermittently by an amount corresponding to a fraction of the height of a character, the cylinder 24 being rotated to bring a required element into printing position. The record medium 14 is fed six times to form a character, and after each step thereof a selection of mosaic elements are brought into print position. For example, element a can be used in the first, second, fourth and sixth positions of the record medium. A prescribed sequence of permitted print operations, rotations of cylinder 24, and steps of the record medium 14 is laid down (Fig. 8, not shown) whereby a complete character requires only two full rotations of the cylinder 24. Print hammers 26 are provided, there being a plurality of print positions across the width of the record medium 14. A machine encompassing the printer (Fig. 1, not shown) may print simultaneously on three separate record media.
