Abstract
1446206 Shearing HURCO MTG CO Inc 8 Aug 1973 [14 Aug 1972] 37646/73 Heading B3W A shear comprising two pairs of blades disposed for cutting a corner notch in sheet material has means for adjusting the cutting clearance between the blades of each pair. The upper blades 36U, 37U are mounted on a ram 11 adjustable to vary the clearances CF and CS Fig. 5, by vertical adjustment of wedges 46, 47 and wedges 39, 41 respectively. The wedge 41 is moved by means of a screw 148, Fig. 8, driven by engagement of a worm in a gear box (151) with a pinion in the screw shaft Fig. 7 (not shown). Wedges 39, 46, 47 are similarly adjustable by means of gear boxes (169), (168) and (154) respectively. The worms of gear boxes (154) and (168) are releasably connected by a shaft (171) and each worm has an extension such as shaft (176), Fig. 10 (not shown), which can be rotated by a wrench (182) so that simultaneous adjustment of both wedges 46, 47 can be made at either end of the shaft (171). A shaft (173) allows similar simultaneous operation of gear boxes (151), (169). The wedge 41 is urged against a vertically fixed guide block 43 by a spring 162. Wedges 39, 46, 47 are similarly urged against vertically fixed guideblocks 42, 48 and 49 respectively. Gauge bushings 187, 188, Fig. 1, are provided for the clearance CF and bushings 189, 191 for the clearance CS for use with a gauge pin and an indicator gauge (197), Fig. 10, which is removed during shearing. The guideblock 43 abuts a slide block 33 on the blade 36U and any play between the block 33 and the block 43 is taken up by a block 198 urged against the block 33 by hydraulic cylinders 199. Guide blocks 42 and 48 are similarly urged against a slide block 34 on blade 37U. Play between the slide block 33 and the guide block 49 is taken up by a hydraulicallyactuated pivotable block (204), Fig. 11 (not shown). A block 38 reinforces the joint between blades 36U and 37U. Hold downs 116 disposed end-to-end along both blade pairs are each operated by two hydraulic cylinders 123 and a return spring (131), Fig. 12. There is a continuous upward rake on the upper blades from point 36R to point 37P. The ram 11 is driven through cranks 64, 77 and 84 and links 73, 74 and 93 from a crankshaft 62 rotated by either of cylinders 68 and 69, Fig. 1. The full stroke cylinder 68 causes both blades 36U and 37U to move through a shearing stroke and half stroke cylinder 69 causes only blade 36U to do so. Each cylinder may be supplied with pressure at 1000 or 2000lbs p.s.i. A spring loaded, hydraulically released shear pin (101), Fig. 4 not shown, locks the ram against unintentional lowering. Stock to be sheared is supported by a table 16, Fig. 1, movable along tracks 23, 24 &c. In directions 26, 27. A gripper carriage within the housing 17 rigid with the table 16 is movable in directions 28, 29. A conveyor 31 removes sheared corner blanks.
