Abstract

1444414 Locks EASTERN CO 14 Aug 1973 [30 Aug 1972] 38472/73 Heading E2A A door lock employs a pair of latching hooks 22, 24 which are biassed by springs 110, 112 respectively, to a keeper H which has two latching profiles at right-angles to each other, viz. 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62, Fig. 7, and 74, 76, 88, 90, 84, 86, Fig. 4, to cooperate with bevelled surfaces 36, 38 or 40, 42 respectively on the bolts, to enable the lock to be used for sliding doors (Fig. 4) or hinged doors (Fig. 7). The hooks are opened to release the fastening by a follower 140 (on shaft 184) acting on a slider 162, 170, 172. This follower is split into axially separate parts operable separately from each side of the door. The hooks are locked by a slider 250 which may be operated directly or through lock 308.
