Abstract

1444301 Turret lathes; frames and slides CHARLES CHURCHILL Ltd 11 Feb 1975 [12 June 1974] 26084/74 Headings B3T and B3B A turret lathe with a rotatable work-holding chuck 13 has two tool turrets 25 and 26 which are simultaneously independently operable and indexable about respective parallel axes which are parallel to the axis of rotation of the chuck, each turret being movable on a slideway 18, 20 parallel to the chuck axis and along another slideway 21, 22 respectively. The turrets are provided with tools which may extend radially or parallel to the axis thereof for permitting machining internal and external surfaces of a workpiece. The turrets may respectively carry radially and axially mounted tools alterntively one turret may carry tools for both internal and external machining. The turret slides may be actuated by independent motors.
