Abstract

1443955 Packages JOHN DICKINSON & CO Ltd 12 June 1974 [13 June 1973] 28142/73 Heading B8C A carton contains goods in a sealed envelope of flexible sheet material, the envelope having a separate top panel 10 which is peelably sealed to the rest of the envelope so that it can be peeled away to open the top of the envelope without removing the envelope from the carton. The envelope can be side-loaded into the carton which has a hinged or separate lid. The envelope is formed from two superimposed webs, one wider than the other and turned over along opposite edges so as to be overlapped by the narrower web. The webs are peelably sealed along the overlapping edge portions and cut into separate envelopes. After being filled each envelope is closed by transverse seals at least one of which is peelable. A transverse seal may be spaced inwardly of the end of the envelope to form a pull tab. There may be a peelable coating of the sealant over all, or only in a pattern on, the surfaces of the webs. The webs may be of polyester or polypropylene, and may be comprised of laminates, examples being specified, including polyvinylidene chloride coated cellulose film.
