Abstract

In order that large-area, crack-free ceramic veneers can be manufactured economically in a continuous work cycle, a highly liquid ceramic slip is applied on a water-permeable or absorbent combustible support (4) and predried thereon. Subsequently, the slip is, together with the support (4), guided through a kiln. For applying the liquid slip, use is made of a three-chamber overflow device (18), the first chamber (25) of which serves for calming the inflowing slip and the second chamber (29) of which is intended for bringing about a constant slip level. The third chamber (31) serves to limit the thickness of the slip layer applied. <IMAGE>
