Abstract

1443568 Refining lead METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 12 Sept 1973 [29 Sept 1972] 42942/73 Heading C7D [Also in Division F4] Solid fine-grained material, e.g., copper dross formed on the surface of molten lead during a lead refining process is removed by loosening and suction. Apparatus, Fig. 1, may comprise a hood 2 connected to a vacuum conduit 5, the hood being provided with an opening 3 in at least one longitudinal side 1 and rotary beater rods as loosening means 6a. The hood is preferably open and may be traversed across the surface of the melt, alternatively the melt flows under a stationary hood. Alternative loosening means may be chains, rolls or blade wheels which may be driven or pneumatic blowers, Fig. 2 (not shown). The solid material sucked off the melt in an air-stream which may be cooled by the introduction of a secondary air-stream controlled by a flow disc 13, Fig. 3 (not shown), is passed to a cyclone which separates high-Cu content dust and a long filter, which separates high-Su content dust.
