Abstract

1443244 Lavatory cleaner RECKITT & COLMAN PRODUCTS Ltd 22 Nov 1973 [27 Nov 1972] 54181/73 Heading C5D A cleaning and descaling composition, especially a lavatory cleaner, comprises an aqueous solution of (A) at least one mineral acid or an acid salt of a strong inorganic acid, (B) at least one thickening agent which is an ethoxylated or propoxylated tertiary amine of formula wherein R is alkyl or alkenyl group, which is derived from a fatty acid obtained from a natural oil or fat or an equivalent synthetic fatty acid, or is an alkaryl group containing from 8 to 12 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety, A is an ethoxy or propoxy group and x and y may be the same or different and are integers of from 1 to 3 (A) may be hydrochloric, phosphoric, sulphuric or sulphamic acid or sodium bisulphate. Optional additives are (C) organic acids such as benzoic, citric, tartaric and phthalic acids, the acid anhydride or a salt thereof, which enhance the thickening effect of the compound (B); (D) a dye, pigment, perfume, corrosion inhibitor or bactericide. The thickening agent (B) and other optional additions are added to the aqueous solution of (A) with agitation until a gel is formed.
