Abstract

1443183 Lamps XEROX CORP 4 Oct 1973 [13 Oct 1972] 46323/73 Heading F4R [Also in Divisions G2 and H1] Apparatus for illuminating longitudinal sections of an original document 22 on the platen 24 of a multicolour electrophotographic printing machine during thes canning thereof comprises at least one tri-phosphor tubular fluorescent lamp 26 mounted on a sliding carriage 56, the lamp being surrounded through a 270 degree arc by a sleeve heater 68 and cooled by air from a blower 70 so that the temperature of the lamp, as measured by a thermally responsive member (76) positioned on the wall of the lamp, can be maintained within a predetermined range by regulating the heater. The exterior surface of the lamp is opaque except for a clear region (74) extending over the whole length of the tube and about a 45 degree arc.
