Abstract
1442537 Injection apparatus TRANSVAC MASCHINEN AG 30 Jan 1975 [5 Feb 1974] 05274/74 Heading A2D A multi-needle injection machine for the injection of a liquid into meat operates in a manner whereby step by step motion of a belt transports the meat underneath a battery of needles which move up and down in the time intervals between the steps of the belt, the needles penetrating into the meat and injecting liquid thereinto, the forward motion of the belt being achieved by the power stroke of a moving member of a ram which is returned to its initial position by a return member, a free-wheeling device ensuring that the belt remains stationary at this time, wherein the distance between sets of injections may be changed by altering the belt advance per stroke by a first adjustment member which determines the maximum length of the power stroke of the ram and wherein the minimum length of stroke of the ram is determined by a second adjustment member the positioning of which is set by a device which senses the height of the meat approaching the battery of needles. The return member may be a tension spring connected to said moving member of said ram and having a tractive effort less than that of the power stroke of said ram. Alternatively the return member may take the form of a second ram having a moving member connected to the moving member of said first ram. The first and second adjustment members preferably each comprise a sleeve adjustably positioned on a rod. The motion of the belt may be achieved by the arrangement shown in the accompanying Figure wherein forward motion of the belt is effected by the power stroke of first ram 1. The maximum stroke of this ram is set by the position of sleeve 5 which co-operates and abuts with part 4 of the first ram. This ram is connected to a return member, in this case in the form of a second ram which returns the first ram to its initial position. The minimum length of the power stroke of the first ram is determined by the position of the sleeve 7, which sleeve limits the length of forward stroke of a third ram 3. The ram 3 carries an abutment member such as a fork 9 which acts as a stop to control the length of the power stroke of the second ram 2, and hence the length of the power. stroke of the first ram 1, subject to the maximum set by the first adjustment member 5. A guide for the reciprocatory battery of needles senses the height of the meat and, if it contacts a high portion, it acts to set adjustment member 7 so as to alter the length of the power stroke of the first ram.
